Do you struggle with believing that you are good enough? Or do you find that you sometimes need to be reminded? Then light pink might be the color for U!

Light pink is…
Light pink is compassionate. It’s kind. It’s gentle. Light pink is encouraging. It’s soothing. It’s nurturing. Light pink is soft. It’s sweet. It’s youthful and innocent. Light pink is loving. It’s affectionate. It’s intimate. It’s sensual and sentimental. And it is a sign of beauty.

How do U feel about light pink?
If you like light pink, you may see things like compassion and empathy as strengths. Yyou see the importance of an encouraging word. You’re drawn to soft touches and sweet treats. You’re taken back to your childhood or a time when you recall being treated with generosity and kindness just because.
Maybe light pink appeals to your need for love, intimacy, and affection. Being drawn to light pink may also invoke your desire to feel or be seen as beautiful. Or perhaps you’re in need of healing emotionally…and ready to work at it. These are all completely normal feelings to have when you see light pink.
If you don’t like light pink, maybe you see it as weak or fragile. Too soft or too nice. Or even too feminine. You might also have a negative association to some of the feelings mentioned above. Maybe you find them disingenuous or feel a lack of understanding and encouragement in your own life. Or you may feel a lack of compassion from (or for) others in the world around you.
There’s also a chance that light pink was forced on you as something you should like or ripped away from you as something you shouldn’t. Maybe your earliest introduction or memories of it weren’t pleasant.
Take the time to think about your negative associations so that you understand them. But don’t force yourself to use light pink if you don’t want to. There are other fish in the sea and other colors too! 😉

Light pink in popular culture…
Pink has an interesting history and this article covers it pretty well. As you decide whether or not light pink is for you, try not to get fixated on it being for a specific gender or group. Colors being attributed to one gender or another have changed through time and across culture….and will continue to do so.
Look at how some women distanced themselves from pink because they felt it was too girly or too feminine. On one hand, they may have viewed it as a color meant only for female babies and children. On the other, they may have attempted to shed some of their own femininity in an effort to fit in in a male dominated career or society.
Whatever the reason, there are other women (and men) who have decided to embrace (or re-embrace) pink! Over the past few years, more and more pinks have popped up in popular culture. And they’ve become lighter and lighter.
There is great strength in showing empathy and compassion for others. There’s great strength in seeking healing from your past. There’s great strength in being in tune with and expressing your emotions in healthy ways. And there’s great strength in being a female person!
Last year, we were introduced to the range of pinks known as “millennial pink”. I share this because now is the perfect time to seek out the light pink for you! It is everywhere! So if you found yourself to drawn to light pink and want to make more of a commitment to practicing self love and self compassion, try using light pink!
Common variations include rose, salmon, peach, blush, dusty pink/rose, and many more!
How to use light pink…
I started out buying rose quartz (crystals) because of its connection to compassion and love (including self love). The more rose quartz I bought, the more I realized I was becoming drawn to light pinks. So I started putting them everywhere: in my bedroom, in my living room, and on my desk. I recently bought a rose quartz bracelet to carry with me!
Having the crystals (or bracelet) in these places helps me remember that I’m doing my best. And if it’s an unproductive day, that’s okay too. This matters because I often place too much importance on being as productive as possible at all times.
Next, I painted my bathroom a light, dusty pink (see photo above). Over the years, I’ve learned that my morning routine sets the tone for the rest of the day. I spend at least an hour in my bathroom every morning getting ready. So being surrounded by this toned down (or dusty) light pink helps me begin the day knowing that whatever I do today will be enough. That my value is not a reflection of how well I complete my to-do list. It’s also a reminder to not stress myself out if something doesn’t go according to plan.
Then, I bought a light pink duvet cover for my bed! The colors I see before going to sleep affect how quickly I’m able to wind down enough to fall asleep and how well I sleep. But there was another reason I chose this particular duvet cover (and paint color for the bathroom)!
I love my body but like anyone else, there are things I’d like to work on. I want my stomach to be smaller, but I also want to feel comfortable with it as it is right now! With a light pink duvet cover, I am literally covered in compassion, kindness, and encouraging thoughts when I go to sleep every night and when I wake up each morning!
So when using light pink, think about how you want to feel when you see it.
Next, consider when and where you can use light pink in your life. In my case, I found it best to include it in key parts of my daily routines.
Then, decide how much of it you need. Just remember that the intention behind it matters just as much, if not more than the size. So if you start small (like I did), you can always keep it in more than one place!
Although the examples above are about how I most use it,
- I also use light pink shelf dividers to organize my jewelry (something i put on my body).
- I wear a soft, light pink scarf (see photo above) when winter is getting the best of me.
- And on a recent trip, I painted my toes light pink as a subtle reminder that it was okay to relax (as opposed to trying to do everything) during my vacation!
